Mt. Capra Protein Products Comparison

We currently offer many different protein products to fit the various needs of our customers. With so many options, customers often have questions on what the differences are between the various protein products and which one would be best for them. In this blog post we will highlight the key features of our different proteins, so you can better choose which one is right for you.

The main differences between our proteins is the protein type, whether it is a whey protein or a whole protein. Then from there, it is more a matter of whether you want it flavored or unflavored and if you want any added nutrients, like minerals or probiotics. For a quick visual comparison of all of our proteins, check out the Protein Comparison Chart below.

Whey Protein vs. Whole Protein

Whey protein has been a favorite of athletes for a long time. It digests quickly and so is quickly absorbed and utilized. This makes it great for getting to muscles to rebuild after weight lifting or intense exercise. It is also high in branch chain amino acids, which are key amino acids that promote muscle growth. Another benefit is it is high in glutathione precursors. Glutathione is the body’s master antioxidant.

Whole protein is naturally 80% casein and 20% whey. Casein is a slower digesting protein and is known for helping to prevent muscle breakdown. With whole protein you have the best of both worlds, building muscle with whey while preserving the muscle you have with casein. This makes it a good protein option for those who want to maintain muscle mass while toning and those who just generally want to be healthy.

Whey Protein Products

Our most basic whey protein is our Goat Whey Protein Concentrate. It comes in either unsweetened (plain, nothing else added, just protein) or in vanilla flavor that is sweetened with stevia. This product is great for those who just want whey protein to add to smoothies or mix in water, nut milk, or milk on the run. Great for athletes. It offers 24g of protein per serving.

Iso-Goat Whey is our Goat Whey Protein Isolate. It is a bit higher in protein (27g/serving) and is higher in branch chain amino acids than the Goat Whey Protein Concentrate.

Berry Whey contains whey protein isolate, along with 33 blueberries, 12 aronia berries, Capra Mineral Whey, goat milk cream, and sunflower lecithin for healthy brain fats in the form of phospholipids. It is sweetened with Lakanto Monk Fruit. This product has 10g of protein per serving. It has a tasty berry flavor and is rich in antioxidants. The berries all come from local farmers in the Pacific Northwest. The berries are dried within hours of picking on our Refractance Window Dryer, which is a gentle drying method that ensures that the nutrition stays intact.

Peas and Whey contains a non-gmo pea protein and a whey protein concentrate. Pea protein acts similar to casein protein in that it digests slower. That makes it a good option for those who may have a casein sensitivity, but still want the benefits of a slower digesting protein. It boasts 26g of protein per serving.

Note: Most people who have a casein sensitivity are reacting to the Alpha S1 Casein protein that is prevalent in most cow’s milk. Goat’s milk is mainly Alpha S2 casein (A2 milk) and is generally easier to digest and gentler on the stomach.

Whole Protein Products

Our most basic whole protein is our Clean protein. It is just plain whole protein, no sweeteners, flavors, or anything else added. We do offer a Clean Protein with minerals and probiotics, but it is still without sweeteners or flavors and would be similar to our Deep 30 protein powders. We also offer a Clean Fermented Protein, which is like our Caprotein in that it is the whole milk fermented, but it does not have any flavoring (Caprotein has vanilla). Like the rest of our products, Clean protein comes from our grass-fed goats. It contains 20g of protein per serving and is ideal for adding to smoothies.

Caprotein is our whole protein, just fermented. The fermentation process adds in probiotic cultures that work on eating up some of the lactose and breaking down some of the amino acids so that it is partially pre-digested and more absorbable. This is our most easy to digest protein. It only comes in a vanilla flavor that is unsweetened and tastes great in smoothies or when added to pancakes. It contains 13g of protein per serving.

Our Double Bonded Protein is a whole protein with two flavor options. It comes in a delicious vanilla or dark chocolate (tastes like a chocolate malt!). It is sweetened with stevia and is a bit thicker protein shake with a creamy texture. This product is great just mixed in water or a nut milk, but can also be used in smoothies. Each serving contains 20g of protein.

Deep 30 contains an array of nutrients from whole protein, Capra Mineral Whey, goat milk cream, and probiotics. The Bacillus coagulans probiotic is a great addition as it helps with protein digestion. This product is sweetened with stevia and comes in three tasty flavors: Coconut Dream (creamy and a fan favorite!), Strawberry Splash, and Banana Smoothie. Each serving contains 17g of protein. This protein powder is so delicious and is great just mixed with water, nut milk, or goat’s milk!
