Beat the heat and stay refreshed with this minty, citrus treat! It combines freshly made mint simple syrup with lime and lemon juice, along with a boost of over 600 mg potassium per serving from our Clean Electrolytes!

Almost 6 years ago, for 2 years in a row, my family went to Disneyland and enjoyed many tasty drinks and treats there. We had scoured the internet for reviews on all the best foods before we went the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Out of all the food we had, most of it delicious, the place we went to every day for food and drink was in New Orleans Square for Disney’s version of a non-alcoholic mint julep and beignets! The mint julep was so refreshing.

For the last 2 years, I have had it on my list to recreate that drink, with an added electrolyte boost! However, things get busy and as often happens, it sat on my list of things to do for much longer than it should.

Last week I finally made a version of it, and it is so refreshing! While it has been too many years now for me to fully remember what the drink tasted like in Disneyland, I do think this will be a great addition to this next Spring and Summer that I will make again and again!

It is a relatively simple recipe, but does take a little prep work by making your own fresh mint simple syrup using the herb from the grocery store. If you want to skip some steps, just use a mint coffee syrup instead.

You will need fresh mint, sugar, water, lime juice and lemon juice. Plus, for an added mineral boost, add our Clean Electrolytes + Trace Minerals.

Description

Try this refreshing mint julep mocktail using nothing but fresh ingredients to liven up your Spring and Summer while keeping cool and hydrated. While you can drink this with or without the Clean Electrolytes, it becomes a super drink with a boost of over 600 mg potassium when the electrolytes are added.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

-1/2 cup water
-1/2 cup sugar (cane sugar, white sugar, turbinado sugar)
-1 packet mint from the store,  about 1/2 cup

Instructions

For the Mint Simple Syrup:

Add the water and sugar to a small pan and turn up the heat to medium low to medium. Stir with a spoon until the sugar dissolves. Add in the mint leaves and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it boils, turn off the heat and cover with a lid. Let it sit and infuse for 30 minutes.

For the Mint Julep Drink:

Mix all the proportions together, add some ice if desired, and enjoy!

Notes

You can make up some extra and store it in the fridge to drink the next day. I would drink it within a day, as it doesn’t taste as good the second day in the fridge.
