Shipping Policy

**Current Shipping Information**

Mt. Capra prides itself on getting orders out as quickly as possible. Generally orders placed before 12 pm PST on a weekday (M-F), ship the same day. Occasionally an increase in orders during a sale or busy day will delay an order from shipping out by a day or two. Our shipping facility is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so no orders ship out then. We are currently shipping at normal times.

USPS typically arrives in 3-4 business days if shipping cross country, but that is not a guarantee and sometimes it gets delayed. UPS Ground normally takes about a week cross-country. Those needing faster, more reliable shipping can choose to select one of the expedited UPS shipping options at checkout, like UPS 3 Day Select, 2nd Day Air, and Next Day Air.

NOTE: Next Day Air shipping paid for on a Friday before 12pm PST means the order will arrive on Monday, not Saturday. (Some locations have a Saturday delivery, but most do not and so won’t be delivered then). If the order is placed on Friday after 12pm PST, it won’t arrive until Tuesday. Next day air purchased after 12 pm on Thursday, likely will not arrive until Monday, as we won’t be able to ship it until Friday.

2nd Day Air shipping purchased after 12 pm PST on a Wednesday, will likely not arrive on Friday, but Monday. Please contact us if you have any questions on shipping.

Please note: Once an order leaves our warehouse, we have no control over the speed at which it gets to you. We have no way of changing the shipping method after it has left our building. As a small business, we have no influence over the major national carriers, USPS and UPS.

Route Shipping Insurance and Order Replacement

Route Shipping Insurance is automatically applied at checkout to all orders, both domestic and international (currently Canada is the only foreign country we are shipping to). It is a 1% charge on the entire total and is relatively low (a dollar to a few dollars for large orders) for peace of mind. You can choose to take it off by clicking the button off for Shipping Protection under the Order Total on the checkout page. Please Note: If you do not choose shipping protection, Mt. Capra is not liable for lost, damaged, or stolen items on your order, therefore it is highly recommended to leave it on.

Purchase of Route Insurance will provide your order information to Route (name, email, address, order number), so that they can follow up with you on your order via email, and so that they have your order information in the event that you need to make a claim for a lost or stolen package.

Mt. Capra has found it necessary to provide this option for web store customers due to the increasing unreliability of the major package carriers over the past few years. As online purchases have skyrocketed in volume, shipping by the major carriers, including the US Postal Service, has become less reliable. More packages are now going missing, or are stolen from mailboxes and doorsteps. We would prefer not to have to add Route Insurance to orders, but without it there is simply no guarantee that our customers will receive their orders, and Mt. Capra has little ability to guarantee the shipments on our own. Nearly all customers have decided that the 1% additional route protection fee is worth it to guarantee delivery or refund, should a refund be necessary.

Flat Rate Shipping and Free Shipping

All contiguous US orders $69+ have the ability to get free shipping. (There is not a free shipping option for AK, HI, and Canada orders. Shipping will be charged at checkout based on size of order and final destination.)  Please note though, that the free shipping option will have to be selected by the customer, as it does not automatically default to free shipping on the checkout page. Free Shipping means that Mt. Capra gets to decide how your order ships based off of final destination and weight. We either ship USPS or UPS. Smaller orders go USPS. Larger orders generally go UPS.

Orders under $69 in the contiguous US will be charged a flat rate shipping of $9.95 by default. Flat Rate Shipping means that Mt. Capra gets to decide how your order ships based off of final destination and weight. We either ship USPS or UPS. Smaller orders go USPS. Larger orders generally go UPS.

Please note there is no difference between how the order will ship when it comes to flat rate shipping and free shipping. Mt. Capra will still decide on how to ship the order based off of weight and final destination. The flat rate shipping option does not disappear when the free shipping option is unlocked due to an order of $69+. If you want free shipping, you need to select it on the checkout page. Paying for flat rate shipping when free shipping is available does not mean that your order will ship any faster.

If you need your order shipped a special way, you will need to select and pay for the appropriate shipping at checkout.

Expedited Shipping

We understand that customers at times will need faster shipping options. We do offer UPS 3 Day Select, UPS 2nd Day Air, and UPS Next Day Air for our US customers. These shipping options can get quite expensive depending on the quantity of products ordered. Please note that very few locations allow for Saturday delivery, and we don’t offer Saturday delivery.

Alaska and Hawaii

Since Hawaii is an island and Alaska is separated from the rest of the US, shipping is much more expensive to these two US states. Unfortunately we are not able to offer flat rate shipping to AK and HI. Generally orders shipping to these states are shipped USPS for fastest and easiest delivery. Shipping rates are shown at checkout.

Shipping Times

USPS Priority Mail used to arrive anywhere in the US between 2-4 business days, and may still for some, however, due to increased online ordering, priority mail can at times take up to a week. UPS orders typically take a week to go across the country, and shorter depending on what state you live in. Often times the rate for UPS is more expensive than USPS Priority mail, but please note, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is faster.

International Orders

Unfortunately Mt. Capra has had to stop international shipping to all countries, but Canada for the time being. We were having a large amount of international orders being sent out that were never making it past customs and being sent back to us without ever reaching the customer. We do not want our customers to go without or have to wait for long shipping times for product that may never arrive to them, so we had to stop international shipping for the time being.

Canada

We are still shipping to Canada. We ship via USPS Priority Mail. The shipping time for that is supposed to be around 6-10 business days, but lately (as of Sept. 17, 2020), some shipments have been taking much longer. Lately we have had people wait 15 days, to 2 months for one customer while their package was held up in customs. Once your package leaves our warehouse, we have no control over how long it will take for you to receive your order (this is true for international orders and domestic orders). If you are depending on product and do not want to run out, we suggest placing your order much earlier than you anticipate needing it. Placing an order 15 days or more ahead from when you need it would be a good idea. Please note that you may be charged duties at customs and Mt. Capra has no control over that.

My Order Says It Was Delivered, But I Don’t Have It

In the last few months we have had several customers contact us saying their order was delivered the previous night at 9 pm or later, but they didn’t receive it. Sometimes the carriers will mark a package as delivered prematurely, especially if it says it was delivered at 9 pm or later. If you don’t receive it within 2 days after it has been marked as delivered, and you don’t see it tucked away somewhere on your porch, you can contact us at orders@mtcapra.com or call 877-682-2772.
