Have you ever had pear gorgonzola salad? It is delicious! I have even had pear gorgonzola cupcakes that were wonderful.
I wanted to recreate that idea in a smoothie. I don’t think goat gorgonzola really exists, so I chose a plain, soft, goat chèvre, and blended it with slices of pears that had been cooked down in ghee, maple syrup and cinnamon, and blended in real, raw honey. It was tasty! If you are bored of the regular chocolate smoothie, this gourmet twist can be a welcome relief. The pears can be sautéed in bigger batches a few at a time so you have enough for multiple days of smoothies, making for quick morning fuel.
I really enjoyed the cinnamon in it, and the light, clean taste of the chèvre, with the bright, sweetness of the honey really helped marry everything together. Now that it is getting cooler outside, I am starting to think more in terms of warm drinks, and I think this might also be tasty warm, especially with the spice of the cinnamon. The goat milk base (or nut milk if you prefer) could be heated up with everything then blended in.
Are you ready to notch up your smoothie game? Try it and let me know what you think!
Ingredients:
For Sautéed Pear:
- 1 Bartlett pear, sliced
- Generous sprinkles of cinnamon
- 2 tsp goat milk ghee
- 2 tsp maple syrup
Smoothie:
- 1 batch of sautéed pear
- 8 oz goat milk (or nut milk)
- 1 oz plain goat chevre
- 2 scoops Clean Minerals with Collagen Peptides
- 2 scoops Clean Protein + Fermented Protein
- small spoonful honey
- 5+ ice cubes (to your desired smoothie thickness)
Instructions:
Sautéed Pear:
- Slice the pear into slices and combine in a small saucepan with 2 tsp goat milk ghee. Cook until the pears start to soften (probably about 5-7 minutes).
- Add in maple syrup and sprinkle generously with cinnamon. Continue to saute and cook down for about 5 minutes more. For some reason the cinnamon seems to glob up with the ghee and syrup. That is okay, just make sure to include the cinnamon in the smoothie later.
For the Smoothie:
Blend all smoothie ingredients together and enjoy!
